The
Objectives of the Friesian Horse Association
The
Friesian Horse Association is an association founded and made up of lovers
of the Friesian horse who wish to promote, improve their knowledge and share
information about this splendid breed with both owners and admirers. Our
efforts (ours is a completely non-profit organization) have been rewarded
with the OFFICIAL NOMINATION BY THE KFPS of the Associazione Friesian
Horse as the sole Italian branch of the Association and Register of the
Friesian breed of horses.
Finally, with this official nomination of the Friesian Horse Association as
the one and only ITALIAN ASSOCIATION OF THE FRIESIAN HORSE, Italy has
been accepted on an equal footing to the other organizations that already
exist in many other countries round the world. In fact only the KFPS has the
authority to create branches in other countries: the breed register has
always been managed, and will always be managed, by the KFPS out of its
offices in Drachten, Holland. Thanks to the Friesian Horse Association’s
commitment and activity this now means that foals born in Italy can receive
the documents and passport of a Friesian (please see the section Documents).
Among
our various activities we offer:
- information on the breed and breed
standards
- we manage requests for documents
from KFPS (registration of foals, ownership transfers, requests for copies
of lost documents, DNA testing, etc.)
- the promotion and circulation of
Selection rules, breeding and assessment of the KFPS
- the organization of meetings and
morphological breed Selections (the first Selection took place on 7th
September 2007 at C.I. Il Canneto at Fara Gera D’Adda – Bergamo, and future
Selections will take place in other areas of the country so as to facilitate
the eventual participation of all the Friesians living in Italy)
- a census of Friesians in Italy
(photos and data are published on our website)
- linguistic assistance in the
buying/selling of Friesians coming straight from Holland (N.B. only for
requirements connected with communication in English – the Friesian
Horse Association can in no way whatsoever be held responsible in any manner
whatsoever for the terms and conditions of eventual contracts, payments,
etc, which remain the exclusive responsibility of the buyer/seller)
- constant and continuous communication
between members to share and exchange opinions and advice, and eventually to
solve problems connected with the use and breeding of Friesians
- a short monthly newsletter will be
sent to members with in-depth information about the breed, evaluation
parameters, advice on breeding and rearing, etc.
- Participation in the greatest
possible number of events and shows, in order to promote knowledge and info
about this breed in Italy
- Suggestions regarding breaking in
and training

the organization and participation
in events and competitions dedicated to the baroque-type horse (Western
Friesian, Lipizzaner, Andalusian and the Lusitano)
- the organization of courses and training workshops on
dressage at various levels, for suggestions and investigation into the use
of the Friesian
- furthermore we hereby invite all
lovers of this fantastic breed to contribute to the association’s activities
by putting their expertise at the disposal of all members: send us
information to go into our files on the Friesian, suggestions and requests
for info, notes and personal experiences, inform us of meetings and shows in
your area that could be included in the section entitled Shows and where we
shall endeavour to participate as the breed association together with
eventual sponsors, etc
With the help of our technical advisor, Dorothea, we hope to create one or
two small groups of riders willing to put on a short demonstration or even a
simple Kùr at the various shows
